Privacy Policy

Who we are

VeDa Driver ("VeDa", "we") is a route-planning and voice assistant app for delivery drivers, operated by VeDa Driver (vedadriver.com). We are the controller of the personal data described here, except where your employer or fleet operator uses VeDa for its own drivers — then that company is the controller of its fleet records and we process them for it.

What we collect and why

Account: your email address and sign-in details (Supabase Auth, hosted in the EU — Ireland). Needed to run your account, sync your rounds and handle subscriptions.

Your rounds: stop addresses, postcodes, notes, time slots, delivery outcomes, proof you choose to add (card numbers, notes; photo FILES stay on your phone — only the record that a photo was taken is synced) and tasks. Kept on your phone; copied to our servers when you are signed in so another of your devices, or your company if you drive for one, can continue the round.

Location: your iPhone location while you use VeDa, to navigate, order stops, tell you when you arrive and warn you about the road ahead. If you switch on "Keep VeDa working behind other apps", location is also used in the background while VeDa is running — never after you close the app. Precise location trails are not stored on our servers; a corrected delivery point you save for an address is.

Voice: VeDa listens for her name and your commands using Apple’s speech recognition, on the phone where possible (Apple may process speech on its servers — see Apple’s privacy policy). VeDa does not keep recordings. If you turn on speaker recognition, a voice fingerprint is kept only on your phone.

Questions to VeDa: when VeDa cannot answer on the phone, the text of your question (never audio) is sent through our server to an AI provider (Google Gemini, Anthropic or OpenAI) to produce an answer.

Photos of letters and cards: read on the phone (Apple Vision); the photo itself is not kept — only the task created from it.

What VeDa learns about you: facts and preferences you teach her, words she learns to understand, and your app settings are synced to your account so they follow you to a new phone.

Road reports you make ("road closed here") store the place, time and your account; other drivers see the report (not who made it) until it expires.

Stop notes you choose to share (entrance or access notes for an address) are stored with the address and, if you drive for a company, shared with its drivers.

Payments: handled by Apple (App Store) or Stripe (website). We receive your subscription status, never your card details.

Diagnostics: crash reports and error logs stay on your phone unless you choose to share them with support.

Who else receives data (processors and services)

Supabase (database, authentication, server functions — EU). AI providers: Google, Anthropic, OpenAI (question text only). Maps: Google Maps (the map area you view) and Apple Maps. Addresses: Ideal Postcodes (the postcode you look up), postcodes.io and Apple’s geocoder. Weather: MET Norway, via our server, with your position rounded to about 1 km. Traffic: Transport for London, National Highways and TomTom (the points of your remaining route, for signed-in drivers). Payments: Apple and Stripe.

Your company (if you drive for one) sees the rounds, outcomes, proof and tasks for its work, can search them later, and may keep them longer for legal or insurance reasons.

We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for advertising.

How long we keep it

Proof and document text follow your company’s retention setting (by default 30 days for photos and 7 days for text read from documents); rounds and outcomes are kept while your account or your company’s account is active, then deleted or anonymised. Records under a legal hold are kept until the hold is released.

Your rights

You can see, correct or export your data, delete your account in the app (Account → Delete account), object to processing, or ask us to restrict it. Contact us through the app (Support) or vedadriver.com. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

Children

VeDa Driver is for working drivers aged 18 or over.
